How to Prevent Meltdowns in Kids with Autism

Want some simple tips to help prevent meltdowns in kids with autism and special needs?

In order to help reduce breakdowns in kids with autism, it’s important to prep your students to any changes in routine! If you know that your student or child will experience a change in routine, make sure to prep your students before any changes occur. For example, if there’s a fire drill coming up in a couple of weeks, make sure to review the fire drill social story with your students 1-2 weeks prior to the drill. Social stories will teach them about any changes.
